The short answer: an in-home newborn session means I come to you, so you can stay cozy at home with your new baby. Sessions typically last about an hour, are completely baby-led (feeding breaks, diaper changes, and cuddles included), and include the whole family. I travel throughout Minneapolis, St. Paul, and the Twin Cities for in-home sessions, and I offer studio sessions too.
Having a newborn photography session can feel stressful but opting to have the session in the comfort of your home can make everything feel a bit easier. My sessions are lifestyle sessions, and I love natural light which makes in-home sessions a natural choice for me.
Having your session in your home is so special- that cozy blanket you wrap up in every night. That one chair with a view of the snow piles where you sit to nurse your baby. The pieces of leftover toast on the counter and shoes scattered in the entryway may feel like clutter in one moment but a reminder of life and childhood in another.
What’s included in an in-home newborn session
- About an hour, at your baby’s pace- we take every break your little one needs
- The whole family, including older siblings (and pets, if you’d like)
- Access to my client wardrobe, plus styling help before your session
- Both film and digital photography
- Retouched, high-resolution images delivered within a week
- Sessions start at $350
Newborn sessions are ideally photographed when your baby is 7-14 days old, so most families book during pregnancy. Once your baby arrives, just let me know and we’ll confirm your date.
A St. Paul in-home newborn session
This family’s timeless St. Paul in-home newborn photos are ones I’ve been so excited to share. On a grey, December morning, I arrived at their St. Paul home for this newborn session. I love being able to capture the whole family with an in-home portrait session in the family’s home. Especially after welcoming a little one and having older siblings it can be a lot trying to get out the door (on time!) with all the things.
This new family of five was so welcoming and laid back for their timeless in-home newborn photos. Their lifestyle newborn session went so smoothly and sweetly, and I loved viewing their sweet moments every step of the way. The big siblings had such a wonderful natural connection with the new baby and witnessing the family’s story unfold was such an amazing time.
I loved the clothing colors mom picked out for their portraits. The creams, pinks, and patterns were just perfect and matched the aesthetic of their home, making it easy for them to decorate with these portraits after receiving their gallery. I want to support my clients as much as possible, which is why I have wardrobe guides and client closet offerings.
